IOMEG FORTE SYRUP

1.       WHAT IOMEG FORTE IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

IOMEG FORTE syrup is an iron supplement used in the treatment of iron deficiency or iron deficiency anaemia

2.        BEFORE YOU TAKE IOMEG FORTE SYRUP

-          Do not take IOMEG FORTE syrup if you are allergic to iron III hydroxide polymaltose, folic acid or any of the other ingredients in IOMEG FORTE syrup.

-          Please tell your health care provider if you are taking or have recently taken iron supplements or any other medicines, including medicines, including medicines obtained without prescription.

-          Consult with your doctor or pharmacist before taking IOMEG FORTE syrup if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

-          If the symptoms of anaemia resulting from iron deficiency do not pass within three weeks, report to your doctor.

3.       HOW TO TAKE IOMEG FORTE SYRUP

Always take IOMEG FORTE syrup exactly as your health care provider has told you. You should check with your health care provider if you are not sure. The usual dose is

-          Adults: 5 ml; 2-3 times daily

-          Children: 5 ml; 1-2 times daily

-          Infants: 2.5 ml once or twice daily

Take this medicine during or immediately after a meal. The medicine may be mixed, before taking, with fruit and vegetable juices or baby food.

If  you forget to take IOMEG FORTE syrup, wait and take the next available dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

Wait a period of at least two hours between taking this medicine and taking antacids, antibiotics from the tetracyclines and quinolones groups, dimercaprol (for metal poisoning)-(it is sufficient to wait 24 hours).

4.       POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like  all medicines, IOMEG FORTE syrup can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Intense stomach pains (rare): discontinue treatment and contact your doctor. If you notice side effects not mentioned here or if there has been any change in your general health, consult your doctor immediately. This medicine may cause change in the color of the faeces. This change should not be a cause for concern. Dark faeces have no clinical significance.

5.       HOW TO USE STORE IOMEG FORTE SYRUP

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not store above 30 degree Celsius

Do not use IOMEG FORTE  syrup after the expiry date which is stated on the bottle. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Do not use IOMEG FORTE syrup if you notice any particles or color change of the syrup.

Medicines should not be disposed via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What IOMEG FORTE syrup contains:

The active pharmaceutical ingredients are Iron III hydroxide polymaltose, folic acid and vitamin B12. The other ingredients are sugar, sorbitol, sodium starch glycolate, xanthan gum, sodium hydroxide, citric acid, propylene glycol, methylparaben sodium, propylparaben sodium, color and flavor.
